Post-Absence Series
2016
Wood, Fiberglass, Transparent Print
Informed by Lacanian philosophy, the Post-Absence Series delves into the intricacies of memory recovery and its sensory manifestations within a spatial context. According to Lacan, the present moment is defined by an individual’s relationship with their essence, a complex interplay of desire and longing. This series of artworks navigates the emotional turning points where memories resurface, blurring the boundaries between past and present, absence and presence.
Comprising four distinct works—Placeless, Hands, Entrance, and Absence—the series invites viewers to explore the nuanced sensory representations of memory recovery. Each piece engages with the interplay of negative and positive space, evoking a sense of tension and relief as viewers traverse through the spatial narrative.
